Destination Wedding Photography | Colorado Springs | Megan & Nathan | Day After Session

*I’m reposting everything from my old blog here on my new blog.  Call me neurotic, but I like to have everything all in one place.  So if you’ve seen this post before, my apologies.  New things will be here soon!

Often times a bride and groom will opt to do a photo shoot after the wedding. There are several reasons to do this. They can use the opportunity to do a shoot together that they didn’t have time for, the bride can do things she may not have on the wedding day because she is no longer concerned about the dress getting dirty, and the couple can shoot in a location different from their wedding day venue. Also, I try to fit this in to every destination wedding I do since I may not get the opportunity to do an engagement session beforehand.

Megan and Nathan met in college as rafting guides and water from the rivers was used in their wedding ceremony. So it was only fitting that their day after session took place in the river! It was freezing and they were troopers! Thank you so much guys!

Destination Wedding Photography | Bogotá Colombia | Day After Session

This week I have been sharing with you my destination wedding in Colombia.  Typically when I travel to do weddings, I like to include some rehearsal dinner coverage and a day after session.  This is a really great opportunity for the couple to get back into their tux and gown and do a quick photo session a day or two after the wedding.  It’s spontaneous, fun, and provides more relaxed portraits for the couple.  You get to add a location to your photos other than your wedding day venue and you get to have photos that you typically wouldn’t have the opportunity to get on the wedding day itself.  I recommend it to all my couples!

For the session we went down to the Candelaria neighborhood, the historical part of town, a perfect backdrop for the session and a great compliment to the hacienda where the wedding was held!  Enjoy!

Day After Session Photography | Misty & Jon

Before we headed down to the beach, we did a vintage car session at this wonderful old gas station we found! And I love how it turned out! Misty and John, thanks for including me in your honeymoon plans! Enjoy!
