In previous posts, I have blogged about the guest books, proofs & discs, and greeting cards.  This time, I bring you the wedding books.  This is mostly for my out of town clients to see what the products look like, but also for all the clients to see the cover options for each book and if they need to refresh their memory on the designs of the books.  Enjoy!

Alders books are handcrafted archival works of art that use stunning images to convey your personal narrative.  I personally pre-design a book that recounts the events of the day. I then work with you to incorporate your favorite photos, preparing each image for high-resolution printing on luster or matte paper.   Bound in the style of your choice, these books are stylish heirlooms.   The number of images used is determined by the book size.

Style 1: Fine Art Book:

The fine art book contains photographs custom designed in flush layouts.  The pages are matte finished, giving them a lustrous look & satiny feel.  The archival pages are folded and mounted, allowing for full panoramic design.  The hard cover book comes in your choice of linen, silk, suede or leather materials.  It is packaged in a token black box & protective clothe envelope.

Notice on the right, the seamless fold down the gutter.  This was very important to me when choosing an album company.  Many other “coffee table” styles either slice a photo (obtrusive and disruptive) or fold a photographic print (leaving a pink or blue cracking crease).

Leather: The glove leathers are the finest top grain cowhides available.  The hides are smooth, sometimes exhibiting some natural texture; there is no artificial texturizing of this series glove leather.  Saddle and Topaz are distressed leathers.  They have a nap, show scrapes & digs, and develop a patina over time.  Select them with this in mind.

Suede:  The suede leather covers offer a cushy genuine suede in 8 color choices.  Cover stamping is available in branding only, not foil.Photobucket

Linen:  The premium linen covers are made from the highest quality linen book cloth.  Five colors and a wonderful nubby texture make these an interesting alternative cover option.

Silk:  The Japanese shaunting silks are an alternative cover option.  No cover stamping is available on silk covers.Photobucket

Style 2: Classic Book:

The classic book contains photographs custom designed in matted layouts. The glove leather cover & matte black pages offer a timeless feel.  Each photo is lacquered with a protective coating and hand-mounted into its frame.  It is packaged in a token black box & protective cloth envelope.

These next two show you the difference in how the parent albums (the 8×8 as opposed to the 10×10) are designed.  While the coffee table book is simply a smaller version of the couple’s book, the classic matted book offers different designs all together.

My Turn

I have a confession to make.  I don’t like chocolate.  It’s true.  I would take a whole bag of chips over a Snickers bar any day.  In fact, what’s worse than chocolate is when they throw in all that other crap like peppermint or peanut butter.  No thank you.

I have another confession.  I love having my photo taken.  When you talk with most photographers, they will tell you that behind the camera is the only place they want to be.  They hate having their picture taken.  They are not photogenic.  They would just assume never be documented.  Ever.  I, on the other hand, love it.

And there is one time of year I always love having my photo taken.  Christmas.  Because I love sending Christmas cards!  I couldn’t wait to get married so I could start sending out cards every year.  I’m a dork, I know.  So this year my husband, Tyler, and I scouted out some Christmas tree lots with Lori Dorman and below are the results!  Enjoy!

The result was an accordion fold card featuring 8 of the above photos (photos of the card coming soon)!  Enjoy your holidays and keep this in mind for your card next year!  I’d be happy to do a session and design a card with you!
