Courtney and Colin’s wedding day was a dream day for any photographer. It rained all week the week before, and it poured like a monsoon the day before, but as you can see, it cleared up and was sunny and gorgeous for their wedding day. Courtney and Colin got married on Balboa Island in Newport Beach and chose all the perfect details and colors and flowers to perfectly compliment their venue and the surrounding areas. We had so much fun before the ceremony taking photos with the couple and the wedding party in the Balboa Fun Zone. After taking a ferry that only holds 3 cars to the island, it feels like you’ve been dropped into a Southern California Amity. The island, complete with a gorgeous hotel where the couple got ready, a carnival area, and their reception location, is small enough to walk to two blocks from one area to another. My kind of wedding! I love when I can photograph the in between. Things like the couple and their friends walking around, the wind blowing those gorgeous bride’s maids dresses, and stopping into an ice cream shop all made for more spontaneous and carefree photography!

Courtney and Colin, you two are so in love and so sweet together. It was a joy to photograph your day. From your bitchin’ dress, Courtney, to your attention to your new wife, Colin, you two are so special. Thank you so much for entrusting me with your wedding photos. It was a pleasure to be there for the beginning of your marriage! Enjoy!

Griffith Observatory Engagement Session | Chethana & Eric

Both Eric and Chethana are scientists! So it seemed only fitting to do their engagement session at the Griffith Observatory! These two had perfect chemistry during their shoot, laughing, dancing, and entertaining themselves. I really loved that they wanted to also go inside and explore some of the exhibits, specifically the periodic table of elements, and the planets. There is also a giant display of a woman’s jewelry collection because every piece is astronomy related.

It was a perfectly clear day at the Observatory and we got spectacular views during their session. I also loved their wardrobe choices, complimenting each other without being too matchy matchy. They even tried on their outfits ahead of time and emailed me a few snapshots, which I also loved! This way we could fine tune things before the shoot.

I cannot wait for Eric and Chethana’s Indian and American wedding in June! It’s going to be an awesome day! Thanks guys for a wonderful afternoon! Enjoy!

New Zealand Wedding Photography | Catherine & Paul | Day After Session | Piha Beach

Yesterday I posed the first half of Catherine and Paul’s day after session. Today I’m sharing their beach photos. New Zealand beaches are very different than any other ocean front that I’ve every been to. The tide is very very far out from the beach in some areas. At Piha Beach, Catherine and Paul explained, the tide and current can rip you right out to sea. Needless to say we didn’t venture into the water, but rather enjoyed the black sand beach (made from iron sediment). Loved this part of the shoot! Because it was overcast, I could point the couple in any direction, instead of facing them away from the sun, making for a really diverse shoot! Enjoy!
